(槟城13日讯)教育受疫情影响下,教学被逼采取虚拟形态进行,许多家长更担忧此模式或影响学生的学习。惟,各考试成绩出炉后,却反映出令人感到惊讶的成果,学生成绩不但没退步,反而进步了。
韩江中学在2020年度的IGCSE(剑桥国际中学教育普通证书)及统考考试中,取得耀眼的成绩。168名考生中,有134名学生考获4A或以上,高初中统考则有32名学生考获3A或以上。
这些优秀生于今早通过线上分享会,向媒体分享实体课虽能激发学生投入,但是网课却能鼓励更多学生向老师发问问题,从而深入学习。
沈垲芯受访时表示,实体课与网课各有好坏,对她而言,平时上课时较不敢在班上向老师发问问题。反而,在上网课后,可以通过视讯平台的私讯功能,直接向老师发问问题。
“这也让我比以前更加了解课文中的细节,与老师的互动也有所增加。”
她说,实体课比较有上课的气氛,加上老师的监督,学生们在上课时也比较认真上课,上网课则常常面对网路不给力的问题。
不过,萧恩晴却认为,实体课比网课更好,因为比较容易进入读书的状态,也比较容易跟老师和其他同学互动。
“上网课时,经常会因网路不给力,或是兄弟姐妹干扰,而影响学习。”
询及上网课是否会荒废学习?她则表示,不会,只要平时有养成课后复习,遇到难题时请教老师,以及多做习题的好习惯,学习不可能因此而荒废。
陈政桦强调,个人偏好实体课,因为实体课才能让人与人之间建立“有意义的联系”。
“只有成功建立联系后,我们才能通过网上继续交流,这对学习才更有帮助和意义。”
他分享自身经验,由于美国从生活文化到教育系统与大马是大相迳庭。初来乍到,只有通过实体课,才能与当地同学相识相知,从中学习和适应美国道地文化,并在课馀或其他时间,与同学或师长网络交流。
“所以这是单纯网课做不到的。在美国,容许学生带手提电脑进课堂做功课和笔记,老师上完课后,课程内容就上载云端教室,作业也是这样呈交,方便整齐。”
因此,他认为,在实体课中,适当融入科技,才是最有用的教学模式。
韩江中学家教协会主席兼董事吴松文博士也强调,新冠肺炎加速了大马过去填鸭式教学法结束,“混合模型”(Hybrid Model)教学方式,让实体与线上课并进学习,已成未来新教学趋势。
THANKS to great determination and persistence, Tan Zheng Hua scored 11A+ in the International General Certificate of Secondary Education (IGCSE) examinations.
The former Han Chiang High School student came first in the Best Across Eight Cambridge IGCSE examinations, an award which is calculated by adding up eight of Zheng Hua’s highest scoring subjects.
Zheng Hua, 18, also bagged the ‘Top In The World’ awards for IGCSE in mathematics (without coursework), geography and computer science.
“I am proud to be the first person from my school to achieve such heights and bring glory to both the school and the country.
“I want to thank my principal and teachers for their guidance all this while, ” he said in a Zoom interview.
He is now studying at Hamilton High School, Chandler, Arizona, United States, to get his high school diploma.
Zheng Hua is planning to enter Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT) next year to study computer science and cyber security.
“I am interested in science, technology, engineering and mathematics (STEM) subjects as well as history and geography.
“It is my dream to study at MIT but I know that the requirements are strict.
“I am working hard in my studies and co-curricular activities as well as taking part in community projects and camps.”
Besides studying, Zheng Hua also spends time playing basketball or jogging on the weekends.
He attributes his success to his family and teachers.
His father Tan Eng Hock is an engineer while his mother Teoh Kooi Peng is a programme manager-turned-housewife.
“My parents are my inspiration.
“I am grateful that they give me a great amount of autonomy to make decisions.
“Their way of educating me is a mix of liberalism and conservatism, ” he said.
During his free time, he loves to surf the Internet for topics he is interested in.
“I am always interested in current affairs.
“I try to get more information and case studies for my assignments online as it helps during the actual examination, especially in geography, ” he said.
