
韩中迎新日圆满落幕 新生满载而归
为了让初一新生更好地适应校园生活,韩江中学于2025年2月12日(星期三),举办了初一新生迎新日。当天共有450名初中一新生出席了本次的活动。此外,现场还迎来了多位贵宾,包括韩江三校董事会副董事长拿督苏创兴先生以及董事连瀛生先生、韩江中学家教协会主席吴松文博士、署理主席李国祥博士、署理主席周永发先生、理事方伟伦先生,副秘书袁佳熙女士、小组委员陈星霖先生,骆羙杉女士、巫进有先生以及李愷蔚先生。
迎新仪式于上午8点准时开始,所有出席者齐聚连登堂,奏唱国歌、州歌和校歌。随后,由总学长带领全体新生宣读韩江学生纪律信条并进行宣誓。韩江中学校长江美利硕士受邀上台发表演讲,对在场的初一新生表示热烈欢迎与祝贺。
她强调,韩江中学致力于培养学生的自律精神、勤奋好学的态度以及孝顺品德。江校长希望通过今天的迎新日,能够让新生们更加了解本校的办学宗旨,熟悉本校的课程、学习方式、校规校纪和活动等方面。此外,她借此机会分享了几位韩江学子的优异成就。例如,在2024年UEC和IGCSE考试中,学生们凭借卓越的表现,不仅为自己带来了荣誉,也为学校增添了光彩。
她还特别提及本校学子于去年赴美参加2024年世界学者杯之精英赛,并斩获56枚金牌、23枚银牌以及5座奖杯,展现了卓越的思辨能力。同时,本校舞蹈社在全国舞蹈比赛中夺得荣誉金牌,为学校再添辉煌。
紧接着,韩江三校董事兼家协主席吴松文博士在致辞中感谢大家的到来,并向全体韩中教职员工表达由衷的敬意,感激他们的默默耕耘与无私奉献。
吴博士勉励新生们珍惜学校提供的优质资源和学习环境,全力以赴,在韩江探索自我,发掘自身价值与使命。他特别提醒新生,要学会“做人、做事、做学问”,即做人贵在清白,做事必须认真,做学问要敢于立志高远,同时善于实事求是。
随后,副董事长拿督苏创兴先生敦促新生们谨记韩江中学校训“笃于文行”,并将其作为学习与做人的准则。他希望新生们尽快适应校园生活,养成良好的学习习惯,珍惜求知机会,同时鼓励大家在专注学业的同时,积极参与体育、艺术、社团等课外活动,锻炼综合能力,培养团队精神,全面提升自我。
教务处主任林松锦与训育处方益东副校长分别作简报,总结新生在韩江中学第一年需注意的要点。最后,刘泓志与黄若熙同学登台分享他们在世界学者杯夺得的辉煌成就,并鼓励学弟学妹们积极参与国内外学术竞赛,开拓视野,挑战自我。
在活动尾声,本校华乐团与二十四节令鼓队献上精彩演出,为迎新日画下圆满句点。
On the 12th of February, Han Chiang High School held its 2025 orientation day for the junior student intakes. A total of 450 students attended this event, along with their parents and school teachers. Several important guests were also present, including the vice chairman of Han Chiang High School’s Board of Directors, Dato’ Saw Chang Heng, members of the Board of Directors Mr Liang Wing Sim, Dr. Ngoo Seong Boon, and Dr. Lee Kok Siong, and several members of the Han Chiang Parent-Teacher Association.
The orientation ceremony started at 8 a.m. sharp, with all attendees gathered in the Lim Lean Teng hall. After singing the national, state, and school anthems, the head prefect led all the students in reciting the Han Chiang student’s pledge. Later, the Han Chiang High School Board of Directors, Parent-Teacher Association members, principals and vice principals, and heads and deputy heads of each department were briefly introduced.
To officially start the 2025 orientation day, the headmistress of Han Chiang High School, Madam Kung Bee Lee, was invited to give a speech on stage, during which she extended a warm welcome and congratulations to the junior students present. The headmistress then explained that Han Chiang High School requires all students to cultivate self-discipline and be studious and filial. She also took this opportunity to talk about the achievements of several HCHS students, such as the Intel Global Impact Festival (AI International Competition) and the 2024 UEC and IGCSE examinations, which brought glory to both the students and the school. Lastly, Madam Kung mentioned that the school’s English debate club managed to win 56 gold medals, 23 silver medals and 5 trophies in the 2024 World Scholar’s Cup competition held in America, as well as the dance club brought back the national honorary gold medal in the national dancing competition.
At 8.30 am, Dr. Ngoo Seong Boon, the chairman of the Parent-Teacher Association and member of the Board of Directors, delivered his speech. In it, he again thanked everyone for their presence, adding a heartfelt thank you to all the faculty and staff of Han Chiang High School. He also expressed his hopes that the new intakes for 2025 will adapt well to their new learning environment and become successful students. Dr. Ngoo concluded his speech by advising all students to always be on pursuit of knowledge and be a studious person.
After that, Vice Chairman Dato Saw Chang Heng was also invited to give a speech. He urged the new students to remember the motto and use it as a learning and personal development principle. He hopes the new students will cultivate good study habits and cherish learning opportunities. He further encouraged students to actively participate in various extracurricular academic activities to enhance their comprehensive abilities, foster team spirit, and constantly improve themselves.
Then, Han Chiang High School’s Chinese orchestra gave a magnificent performance, followed by two briefings from Mr Lim Seong Gim, the dean of the studies department and the vice principal, Mr P’ng Yik Thon. They both summarised important points about the new student’s first year at Han Chiang, discussing the many details.
To officially conclude the ceremony, there was a performance by Han Chiang High School’s 24 festive drums team. Overall, the 2025 orientation day was successful and promised hope for all the new intakes.
