Han Chiang students triumphed at the World Scholar’s Cup Bangkok Global Round 2024
Han Chiang High School(HCHS) students once again showcased their exceptional skills and academic prowess at the World Scholar’s Cup Global Round 2024 in Bangkok from Sept 6 – 11.
A total of 9 teams took part in the competition and the students secured an impressive total of 185 gold medals, 85 silver medals, and 31 trophies. Two standout students, Low Hong Zhi (SE11) and Jane Ong (J2E1), were honoured with the prestigious Jac Khor Award, both emerging as champions in their individual categories. The Jac Khor Award is given to the student with the highest score in the ‘Scholar’s Challenge’ round.
The HCHS senior teams placed 1st, 2nd and 4th in their category, while the junior team distinguished itself with a 3rd Place overall finish. All nine teams from Han Chiang have qualified for the Tournament of Champions.
This outstanding performance not only highlights the remarkable capabilities of the students but also solidifies Han Chiang’s reputation as a beacon of academic excellence on the global stage. Looking ahead, two teams from Han Chiang are excited to represent the school at the Tournament of Champions (TOC) at Yale University, USA, in November, where they will showcase their skills on an even larger stage.
The World Scholar’s Cup (WSC) is held annually, bringing together students from all over the world to compete in a range of academic challenges designed to foster critical thinking, collaboration, and communication skills at both regional and global levels.
